In 3000 BC, Mongols came to the area of Myanmar. Burmans began to arrive in the year 800. Anawrata founded the 1st kingdom in 1044. In the 1800's, the British took total control. From 1939 to 1945, the Japanese controlled Burma during World War II. In 1945, they returned control of Burma to the British. In 1948, Burma became it's own country. Since 1962, they have been controlled by the military. In 1989, they changed their name to Myanmar. There were three wars in Myanmar over its history.
